Does anyone know any links to any free 3D tree generators, or links to tutorials for making trees in Truespace or Blender (Or any tool period, I may be able to make do)? I need some for my new game and so I figured that as long as I was working on previs I might as well make a nice collection of trees to go along with it. ------------------ "I am very good at hiding, so if you don't see me, that's where I am." I remember playing around with this at one time - TreeDo http://tsx.uvworx.com/abandoned.html#treedo use the stand alone version, the website states they no longer support it, it use to be shareware, but I don't know if it is free now or what. and google search found this script for making lsystem trees - [This message has been edited by coolj (edited May 31, 2006).] |

Bryce has some great tutorials for making trees. The technique should work for any 3D modeler that can extrude a shape from a greyscale map. The premise is to draw a tree with a spraycan-type of brush, with a trunk and all the branches (no leaves) and then extrude it and it comes out kind-of roundish. Then you duplicate (copy and paste) it, and rotate the duplication 90 degrees. After that, apply a bark texture, and put leaves on by applying a foliage texture to a few spheres and scattering them about the branches. |
