There are a bunch of threads where people are posting screenies or art from their projects, or giving us updates. I'd like to pull some of that content into one thread. Let this be a thread to post images from your game for no particular reason except to show some work you have done or whatever. Here goes ::

Eh, I have a feeling if I say it out loud it will never get finished. :-/ It's a long term goal One large island, with the center being snowy and of higher altitudes, mountains, etc. The next "layer of topography" holding forests and such, and the lowest area being the coastal and jungle tropics. (If you looked from a topographical top-down view, it would be a warped bullseye deal, snow in center, 2nd ring with forests, 3rd and outermost ring tropical). The factions fighting for control; the Natives, the Raiders, and the Industrialists. The goal of the natives is the typical "protect the land, get rid of the invaders". Yada yada. The industrialists are on the island , trying to colonize and use the natural resources. (This is where the trapper character falls under). There is obviously alot of conflict facing them. The raiders are just pirates. Attracted by the Industrialist ships they saw going to the island, they followed suit.Upon realizing that the island was rich in resources, they assume that there must be gold. And since there is gold, there muyst be treasure. The goal of the pirates is to get to discover it before the industrialists stumble upon it. This means they will also have to get by the natives. Its essentialy and RTS, except you have very specific control over one of the characters. This would be the leader. The rest of the game plays like an RTS, but you "avatar" is directly controlled by you. (i.e. combat, movement). So that should make it interesting, i suppose. Big dreams, no skills. So yeah, very long term project. Something to aspire towards, as I learn. ------------------ Will the emo kids be my friends now? |

Neat!

Well it might be because you have an idea of what it's supposed to be like, so while you are only at 15 or 30 percent of the project and show pictures we like them because we have no idea of what it's supposed to look like and we like what we see at the moment. Very understandable ![]() ------------------ [This message has been edited by lava (edited March 03, 2006).] |

The way I look at it Buddboy the only way to get better at anything is to push yourself. If you have an idea don't throw it away because it seems impossible, as least give it a try, try your hardest to do it any way you can. To tell the truth you usually end up learning more from one failed attempt at something above you then you do at ten successful attempts at something below you or at your level. So don't slam yourself with "I can't do this" and "I can't do that" push yourself to the limit, that way your skills increase, and you end up much better than you were before. ------------------ |

I totally agree with Ereon, what I like to do is "dream big, start small", when I get an idea of something nearly impossible at the time I usually start off with smaller projects and then build up to the grand dream, like say I wanted the paint the mona lisa someday, but I didn't know a thing about drawing, I would first pick up a pencil and practice drawing cicles. BTW, GREAT pic G4C! That is turning out to be awesome ------------------ [This message has been edited by lava (edited March 05, 2006).] |

a hill and a pond. -_- heh. There's going to be a lean-to/cave thing carved into the side of that hill, which will be where a hermit lives. ------------------ Will the emo kids be my friends now? |
