I was reading 2 Samuel 23, 8-37. This is about "David's Mighty Men" as the paragraph is called in the NIV. There are 3 mighty man named especially: Josheb-Basshebeth, Eleazar and Shammah. These are men who did apparently mighty deeds, one is described in the chapter. While I was reading this I couldn't help but notice the potential for game ideas from this section. You could use this as a theme for an FPS, an RPG, a Commandos style game, or RTS. David sends his 3 out on a mission to do this or that: Commandos style: By usuing the skills correctly of each of the 3 you must make it though the levels and complete the mission RPG: The 3 are a party. You'll need to embark on the mission and by gaining skills and experience complete the task RTS: By raising armies and fighting the enemy armies FPS: For each mission, level, choose one of the three and work though the level. etc... For me this really speaks to my imagination. Many posibilities here. [This message has been edited by vincent (edited February 20, 2006).] |

An RTS would be really cool! If it was an RTS, you would need some men proficient with ranged weapons. Don't forget the insane Benjemites who produced excellent archers and a gang of left-handed sling throwers "each of who could sling a stone at a hair and not miss" Being left handed I can appreciate that! I call them insane, because they once tried to take on all the other 11 tribes of Israel at the same time! Definitely NOT a good idea! But they were excellent fighters though. (Read Judges 20 for an epic battle!) By the time of David, the Benjemites (what was left of them I guess) had made up with the others and no doubt were still producing exceptional warriors! strongest of the mighty men killed over a thousand, the weakest, only a measly hundred. lol. of course they are great game material. I, along with countless others, have been dreaming of a cool game for this. I also have a friend who has her masters in biblical archeology. stuided in israel for it too. she said that if I needed any info about that stuff for a game, be sure to ask her. so, that could be good... I personally would rather see a 3rd person action game. people like the Mighty Men deserve an all out, over the top, hack and slasher. probably will have to add the ability to steal the enemy's weapon, because that's mentioned alot. ------------------ |

well, you guys could work together... make ALL those games... lol just kidding... but you could work together and make an FPS version and an RTS version... for those who don't think that the FPS 3D violence thing is right... so everyone can play it... lol... ------------------ |

Ah, right-o. I tend to see a lot of Christian video games written from the perspective of FPS, though they may not be games set in Biblical times. Most of the games on CGNow seem to be FPS though. I'm not sure that I've seen many (any?) games that are "Bible" games, per-se, though there was at least one that was Bible stories animated for the computer. Okay, now that I think of it, there is one Bible game coming out (hopefully) soon. That one is the much-anticipated game Rebel Planet, by Peter Churness and company. That's a Bible historical fiction game, and it just so happens to be first/third person. Oh yeah, forgot about the other Bible game, Timothy and Titus, by White Knight. That one is also first/third person. In conclusion, unless you want to count the old Wisdom Tree games, I can only think of two "Bible" games right now, and both of those are FPS. wb to myself... LOL Been some time since my last reply... sigh... *gets nostalgic Anyway, one of my Ideas for a Game/Book (lol, i never decide which one I'll do...), has a Chapter/Level based on those passages called One Man Army, though it's kinda modern and less impressive (one lone guy takes on an army by himself, but mainly using traps and hit & run style, complete with frag grenades ) just thought it was a very good concept... (I'd love to do it as a level for a game, but a book is easier :P ) ------------------ |
