I have a game idea called Brethren, but before I go into detail let me illustrate. Ok you have an Age of Empire type of RTS, where you choose your race, start out with small group of people and advance through the ages. Now instead, with Brethren you do not command people, you are one of the people. You start in humble beginnings, time period post-tower of babel, and you can have a profession, such as a farmer or the leader, and you put your effort into advancing the tribe. Now this may sound like communisim, but it's not, you will be able to choose your type government to certain degree. Now I will post alot more on this idea, but I want to know what you guys think. And if there is any game like this please tell me, thank you.

Also one note I want to make clear is that I probably won't start on this for a long time. But this the first time I have wrote it anywhere (bad practice, write your ideas before you post them, lol). ------------------ |

quote: I like your game idea, what would be example actions you would do to advance the tribe? Also, just an idea- and you might have already been thinking this -but since people eventually die and you are controlling only one person at a time.. What if the control of the game passed on from father to son(or daughter) just like in the bible where it is always saying 'soinso begat soinso..'. That would be cool! then you can choose the name for the child, and make so decisions about him while he is young (ex. teach him to farm, or find him a blacksmith to appentice to..) then at a certain age, your control switches to him and the game continues to with the next generation. A good name for the game could be Progeny. [This message has been edited by coolj (edited September 02, 2005).] |

quote: I like that expansion on the idea, CoolJ. It might also help people to be able to see the importance of passing things down to your kids, but also how that's not always enough -- the individual must cash in on that and redeem the opportunities that his parents have given him. --clint ------------------ |

hmm, interesting idea CoolJ, yes I was already thinking of having an apprentence part of the game where if you want to switch jobs someone has to take over and you are to teach them. And I was acutally undecided how to expand the population, how to make kids etc. Does anyone have any ideas of how to expand the population without getting too mature? I also want something unique rather than the buy villager feature in Age of Empires. ------------------ |

Ok here are some of the features in detail: Ages: Resources: Professions: Now you will also have the ability to switch jobs, and if you do, the person that you will take their place will have to take up the job you left, but first you have to instrect them on your job and you have to learn from them on the job you're taking. ------------------ [This message has been edited by lava (edited September 02, 2005).] |

quote: If you are a scientist you research new technoligies. If you are a farmer you provide food for all of the people, to survive. If you are in leadership you have to manage the people and ok new technoligies, accept trade deals ect. There are also resources, like say you are a gold miner, the gold will help as resources to help the scientist research new technoligies.
quote: Yes you only play one person, and you have responsibilities according to your profession. And I don't think they will have a lifespan. Though loss of food will eventually kill them. And it will also be you own personal responibility to feed yourself, even if you are not the farmer. ------------------ [This message has been edited by lava (edited September 02, 2005).] |
