Hi! I have been trying to figure a name for the adventure based MMORPG that I have been working on. So I would appreciate if you could give me some feedback on couple names I have been planning to use or give your own suggestion.
The game is about searching the truth in form of adventuring and I hope that not only Christians but every one else too will play it so you have to be careful with the name.

The names are:
Voice of the word. - because you could say that God's word and voice is in us
World of the Word. - Same as world of Jesus

What do you think of those two, which one is better? Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

What about "This World"

BTW, I have been meaning to ask when is this game's style based, medieval times?

Greek words always sound cool. Have you thought of using them - if not for a game title, then cool city names (and with hidden meanings). I don't know greek, I just used e-Sword.

Alethinos (true)
Aletheia, Alethes (truth)
Phos (light)
Didomi (give)
Photizo (give light)
Emeth (truth)
Doxa (glory)
Dorea (gift)

of course 'Logos' means word.

I think Aletheia would make a pretty name for a girl.

I made this one up from joining two words:
Theophos (God + Light)

Remember 'Moria' in LOTR? I clicked on 'foolishness' and it came up 'Moria'. I wonder if this is were Tolkien got the name from.

Oh well- good luck!

Between the two choices you gave, I like "Voice of the Word" better.

Perhaps, "(The) Proceeding Word" -- it's very layered. Jesus was the word that proceeded from the mouth of the Father, and truth and scriptures are proceeding throughout the world.

"Whirled Word of the Wierd World" is definately a reject name (and a tongue twister at that), but I liked all of the alliteration.

LOL those were pretty funny...

I like "Voice of the Word"

Here are some others:
The Voice
Mana Quest
Truth Ev Logos

Yes I believe medieval times works best for this type of game.

Thanks for all your suggestions. Using greek words like coolj suggested might work or maybe old english like lava said.

What does rest of you think about old english in games?

For God so loued ye world, that he gaue his only begotten Sonne: that whosoeuer beleeueth in him, should not perish, but haue euerlasting life. For God sent not his Sonne into the world to condemne the world: but that the world through him might be saued. He that beleeueth on him, is not condemned: but hee that beleeueth not, is condemned already, because hee hath not beleeued in the Name of the onely begotten Sonne of God.

"Voice of the word" in greek: "phōnē dia logos"

Hmm... does that sound silly?

Some other greek words:

alētheia - truth
agapaō - love
didōmi - adventure
patēr - father
theos - god
ouranos - heaven

Unless any one have any better suggestion I'm going use "Voice of the word" . It's Biblical if you think what John the babtist said:

He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias.
(Joh 1:23 KJV)

Wow cool I just made a search on e-Sword using "voice word" and it gave this verse and couple others:

Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.
(Psa 103:20 KJV)

"voice of his word" is "qôl dâbâr" in greek

So which one of these you like the best?

qol dabar
qol of the word
voice of the word
voice of the dabar
voice of his word
voice dia logos

Hrm, I like "Qol Dabar", but it's hard to pronounce -- for a title, it doesn't really roll off the tongue. What about just "Dabar"?

I'm not sure how much I like the use of old english for scripture in the game.

except the War of the The Word isn't fiction and might not be too far off!...and would make a good RPG where the struggle is against powers trying to eradicate all traces of The Word. When an entire race is attempted to be destroyed, its called genocide. What is it called when an entire belief system or truth of Christ is attempted to be wiped out?
maybe cruxiocide, excruxiation

(For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:
(Philippians 3:18)

and another translation of Voice of The Word = Vocem Vorbum (latin)

Thanks again for good ideas. I forgot to mention that this is non-violent RPG so I'm probably going to select "Voice of his word" since it's in the Bible.

what if you just call it "Voice", then you can building into the storyline something about being called, or spoken to in dreams or visions. Did you ever play Asheron's Call? the premise was your character was summoned to this plane of existence from wherever you decided you were from to rid the world of the evil (can't remember the antogonist's name). Anyway, you could make it similar, the character gets a vision or something and that's what starts the quest!

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm not sure what you mean MastaLlama.
But I already decided to use Voice of His word. In short VoHW. The theme (if that's the right word) of this game is voice of God and search for the truth.

Sorry, I'll try to clarify a bit. I wasn't saying change your game idea or anything, it sounds like an interesting and fun game...and I love me some MMORPGS! (City of Heroes, World of Warcraft, Guild Wars...just to name a few).

How do you plan to tie the character into the game initially? I was suggesting you somehow tie in the title of the game along with the storyline. I assume the characters don't actually play as "the word of God" but by giving the player instructions via visions, dreams and/or a "voice" would be a cool way to tie it all together.

For example, the character gets a vision, similar to Joan of Arc, and that's what starts the character's adventure.

You are right, the characters don't play as the word but they pursue for the truth which is in God's word.
Here is the explanation that I wrote in the site FAQ (link soon to be published):
"The name voice of His word reminds us about the living word
of God that we should all listen and that Word is Jesus Christ.
We can all read God's word from the Bible but those who do
the will of our heavenly Father have truly heard the word.
We hope that by preaching the gospel of salvation the voice
of His word would be heard."

So what do you think, does that make sense?

There isn't a story yet for this game but basically player begins journey for wealth and treasures but if it's the earthly treasures he's after he will find out that the real treasures are in heaven and no man can guide him to there but the voice of God only.

And thanks for the those name suggestions Conquer.

I'm glad to hear it makes sense.

Hmm interesting name. The game could still use a second name and I was thinking, VoHW: The prophecy.

This would be because when player begins his/hers jorney he will be introduced to this new hope and great promise. But what is it, where does it come and what does it take to find out the truth should be part of the "adventure theme", if you see what I mean. And the answer of course is Jesus Christ who is the way, the truth and the life. And who was and is and is to come!

This truth should be revealed to the players as they advance in the game and it's therefore important that the title implies that it's quest for the truth that player takes.

I hope you all see what I mean?
