I'm working toward starting a community that designs and creates open source and open content games. Basically, you would visit the site and have the option of viewing a current game project or starting a new one. Everything about the project, including source, graphics, and music, would be freely available (while still bound by a GPL or similar license) for anyone to download, work on, and resubmit.

No individual would have ownership of any portion of any project. So, say you wanted to optimize the network code, you would be able to download the source, make any changes, and submit the changes to be reviewed and (if accepted) merged into the project.

Of course, the goal of these games would not be to make money. Instead, it would simply be a great learning tool for anyone interested in the games industry.

Many people think I'm crazy for even entertaining the idea, where others seem very interested (allbeit a bit skeptical). What do you think? Would you get involved? Or perhaps I am crazy?

And one more note on the topic: the community I'm talking about will not be Christian-based. However, all content in the games and the discussions will be heavily monitored, as it is aimed at people of all ages and creeds.
