Don't mind me, I just learnt of this site from a friend of mine. I'd never thought I'd ever see a geeky Christian site.

I'm a kinda hippy Christian geek myself, still struggling on after years of abuse from churches and cults but nevertheless still a believer. I'm also into Greenbelt (waaaaay!!!) so I'm a bit of a rebel aswell.

Anyways, bless ya all, and peace man.

Welcome aboard fellow beleiver!

I was just as shocked as you were to find a christian programming site! It was awsome. And yeah, don't let the rather heavy discussion going on phase you, I don't think we are bible picking verse ramming people, we just found something to discuss for a change, rather than the lexical grammer of c++

Welcome here!
Phil

Yes, welcome to this great site.

I've only signed up in the last few days, even though I knew the existence of this site for months. Hope you enjoy it - all about Christian computer game programming and stuff - I'm sure you will put in your ideas - and as far as I'm concerned - the more the merrier.

Yeah, welcome! But please don't use the negative term "geek" when describing us and this site. Some of us may be a little sensitive to that kind of thing.

Just so ya know, I'm not sensitive about it!

I'm a geek. I'm skinny, talk about computers, and have a geek's bad posture from too many long nights at the computer screen.

I'm trying to correct that last bit though.

Greetings. I'm the guy working on an RPG, and trying to decide if i will use violence in my game. Sorry you came right now, usually our discutions are much more light hearted @_@

What kind of coding do you do? I'm into gaming design, mostly RPG stuff, tho i got a few ideas for a 3D missionary game....

Anyway, i'm a Nerd i guess, but it dosn't bother me, cause I'm secure in the fact that God lives in me, and for ever weakness i have, God fills that weakness with His strength. I'm mighty in him, and not much account without God.

Welcome, hope you'll get encouraged and be blessed by this group.

Geeks of the world unite! Dyslexics of the world untie!

Geekdom is a very cool thing, IMO. I've been trying and trying for the last, erm, <sigh>, 15 years to achieve that state. Slowly but surely I will arrive ;P

Welcome aboard!

Actually not much. I tried Linux C programming but I kinda got stuck along the way. I am writing a game though using the TGF game engine designer but imo it's not that great for writing games. Instead I've got my head into web and graphic design and am doing my own business in it.

I guess in one sense I'm more of a git than a geek. But I've got my head around Linux, sort of.

geekgirl,

First of all, welcome! I think you'll find CCN to be a warm, accepting place. I look forward to hearing your input on some of the threads that have been around for a while.

Secondly, I looked at your website, and I must say it is one of the most informative websites that I'v come across in a long time. Thankyou for your willingness to share your experiences with everyone. My parents had a cult background also, and your story sounds very much like their stories. Praise the Lord that He delivered you out of there! Hopefully it will contribute to our cult-proof factor (if one can indeed be cult-proof,..., Well, I think so, a verse in Ephesians 4 and one in James comes to mind).

Thirdly, I looked at your favorite music section. Very cool selection I say! Delirious (look forward to hearing more of their old-style again), dcTalk (my favorite song is "What If I Stumble" followed by "Red Letters"). I don't think that I've heard of the others but that's cool.

Looking forward to hearing more from you,

joeG

When will they add Jesus to the geek code? The letter 'J' is free, after all. What will people say when they hear that I'm a Jesus Geek? I'll tack mine on the end.

I however do not consider myself a "geek" I am not short (I'm 6'4") and I'm not skinny. I am down right insane.

hey geekgirl , went to your site.... being a slave to microsoft's OS and tools to earn my daily bread, i clicked on the relative humour section..
thank you for such a laugh..

the spell checker 'suggested would have' to be 'would of'
it seems a kiwi must have made the british spell checking DB..
us kiwis say the contraction would've as WOULD OF, rahter than WOULDIV..
it wasn't until i was an english teacher focusing on grammer and i said to my self "would of done ....." just doesn't make any grammatical sense.. and found out my folly..

as for the cult thing..
i've seen many such things , known many people involved in them in the past.
its scary to think how people use christianity, or religion for their own purposes.. even in churches that don't start that way.. if we do not submit to Christ , but let it turn to a power thing, the same happens..
look at the catholic church in a historical context.. its very sad.. Men by nature are corrupted by power.. and church history is full of that..
i personally choose not to go to a church that doesn't emphasise accountibility of its leaders , because i understand man's weaknesses and that only if one is living day by day with Christ that one with power cannot be overcome by it and abuse their place of leadership..
however i know my pastor, i know that God has placed him in authority over me. i know he is accountible to many people .

dunno why i saying all this, seems like i'm rambling but ussually when i say stuff for no reason, there turns out to be one

God Bless all

and geekgirl,
I pray that God would prepare a place for you to fellowship, and would lead you there, and it would be a place that would nurture, grow you and challenge you. I know it would probably be difficult in your current situation, and fearful of another cult, but God can make miracles happen.

1/ We discuss C++ ? Not to my recollection

2/ Is geek a negative term ? I don't like 'nerd', but I am proud to consider myself a geek....

Anyhow, g'day. :-)

Hi, geekgirl101,Rat, pleased to meet you!

I think this place totally rocks!! It's nice to know you're not the only person who wants to use video games to serve Christ. It's amazing that you can actually meet people from all over the world(!) here to share your beliefs and hopes with; and they really understand!

Have a great time!
