Well as you all have heard or seen on the news SBC in the USA is cutting 11.000 jobs. If you could think of me. The meeting is first thing Monday 9/30/02. Thats when we find out just who gets the AX. GOD provides but it sure is scary sometimes. The stress is getting to me and effecting how I treat my Wife and Children, I hate snapping and being loud. My language hasn't been the best by any standard, guess my old self is rearing it's ugly head again.

What a first post.

By the way I am trying to get a grip on BlitzBasic 2D. I realize from reading some of the threads here, most of you don't think much of it, but I'm no rocket scientist.

Woohoo! A Christian coder from Missouri! I'm guessing since you may be affected by these cuts, you live in the St. Louis area? I live in St. Charles. Welcome to CCN!

I'll be praying

Matthew 6:25-26

"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet the heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more important than they?"

Spiffy m8, may I ask you, how did you come by Blitzbasic exactly ? Did you pay much for it ?

I have owned BB since January this year and paid 9.99 in a shop in Kingston for my copy, I have found the language extremely reliable and stable. The manual has some deficiencies, which have largely been addressed by a "How to program 2D blitzbasic" BOOK

the book is TOP WORK and written by the administrator of THIS SITE : Krylar

I have had a good read of the book myself and it is not only a magnificent reference document, but also a BEGINNER's tutorial book too it's really good, I recommend it wholeheartedly

if you're interested to see what BB can do then check this demo of PLATYPUS the BB game of the year 2001

and here is the PLATYPUS author being "interviewed" by fellow blitzcoders 6 months after his program received wide acknowledgement, for skillful programming and graphics use ....good luck with your programming, whichever way you choose to go
BTW here's MY FIRST BB programme ..you're welcome to download it, it's no Platypus - that's for sure, but it weighs in at a mere 1MB and is mouse actioned menus, controlling a slick 'WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE' style quiz, try it ! my first effort and hey, who knows, somebody one day will say it was a decent first try

@ chiefy

Thats a niffty game. more than I expect out of my first effort. I bought blitz from the blitz site when they had Programming 2D games with free Blitz 2D. They may still be running the deal? I got to chapter 7 of Programming 2D when the bad news started to get serious, haven't been able to really focus on learning. Anyway they are teaching me how to work on T1 circs at work now. Gotta focus on paying bills first! I did try the Pong tutorial at BlitzCoder, but, having trouble with getting the random thinggy to work. I can make everything move, but, haven't figured out where I fat fingered it yet. Haven't really been trying to hard. I hope in the AM all will be OK.

Gotta get some sleep so I can make the doughnuts!

Thanks for the encouragement from all!

Thank you one and ALL!

Whewwww They got 5 and I wasn't one of them. Fortunately the 5 that are on the list have 90 days maybe more to find other jobs in the company. I hope that's all they take from our group!

Again Thank you one and ALL!

Now hopefully I can get to some programming with Blitz
