Hi Alough I've been Christian for some time now, I've always thought of Christian games as something parents buy for 11 year old kids for their educational value with such exciting premses as snap and rudimentary puzzle games. Imagine my surprise then when I discovered that some are actually quite decent. Could you recommend something that runs on a fairly low spec machine and has decent plot, gameplay etc? ------------------ |

ominous horizons. okay, I'm a big fan of that game. it's an FPS. Eternal War is a cool game too. more hard core, tho. I've heard good things about Walls of Jericho, and Victory at Hebron is game of the year. ------------------ |

Christian? Family-Friendly? Other? <Like the "other" classicification? :-) > From your post, it sounds like you are interested in Christian ones, see How old is your machine? Does it even have a 3D video card? How much Video RAM? I've found that these play on OLD machines, like PII-233 MHz and only a 2 or 4 Meg video card, and are still decent games (but may not be what you are after - what exactly are you after? Your description could apply to several genres now, Adventure?): Heaven Quest - Yes, it is old but still fun. My kids and I still play it - and at a recent demo days there were about a dozen kids aged 5 to 13 that played it ... without complaint! Nacah and Derek - both Myst-like adventure games that require the Bible to solve the puzzles. I was shocked but Derek actually ran on the old machine with 4 Meg Vram. It wasn't too slow either - I think he got away with this because the graphics must be pre-rendered. Scripture Solitaire - card game that incorporates Bible Verses and will play on slower machines. An 80 year old lady at my church plays everyday as part of her quiet time. Oh, and Unity will play on any desktop if you first move the monitor out of the way .. as it is a real card game! ;-) God bless,

Put it this way, it'll run C&C red alert 2 which is 2d real time but with 3d strutures units etc but has difficulty with homeworld something or other in certain modes which is fully 3d ------------------ |

just a quetion that might not even belong in this topic... Has anybody wondered what would happen if Christian media suddenly became "BIG". With the recent release of Passion of the Christ, suddenly there were shows about Christian topics on NBC and stuff. This seems like a good thing, but alot of it was argument or misleading material... I sometimes worry that if what we all hope happens(Christian Games become a huge part of every genre and play a role in the secular market)then people who are'nt Christians will make Christian games because its "the next big thing". The success of Christian media has always led to a sudden influx of Christian-related programs on secular networks, that is usally misguiding. Does anyone have that worry that the big success of a Christian game will lead to games that give false information...? ------------------ |

Better than having ALL popular games give "false information" as it currently stands. I really can't think of a game with a good moral story, can you? Still, it's to be expected. If people see "relgious games" making money they'll want to get in just for the profit. Thus you have non-Christians making products that have a "nice" or "religious" message... whatever that means. |

yeah.... i think Christian games are a great idea... dont get me wrong. I guess that a "Christian" produced by non-christians would lack something, therefore, wouldn't sell. Just like a fps military game made by a bunch of money-loving hippies would suck(if such a thing exists). ------------------ |
