I've noticed that there is a significant delay from posting a message and from when I can see my new post on the boards. Today (May 23, around 12:00-13:00 CDT) I posted on the Holy War topic and even now I am unable to see my post (May 23, 16:38 CDT) even though the number of posts on this topic is 4 I can only see 2. Sometimes this lasts for days!

Empty and delete your previous internet files or reload the page?

Heya,

I'd have to agree with Mack...it does sound like a cache problem. I have seen this too on rare occassion, usually on page 2 of a response, and after doing a reload it works out fine.

From the backend perspective, the CGI posts everything immediately. Try the cache clear or a reload and see if that makes a difference.

Just out of curiosity, what browser do you use?

Sorry you're having troubles

BTW, I can only view everyone's responses via the "quote" mechanism. Draw your own conclusions...

I don't think it's the cache (at least in Konqueror, maybe in IE 5.5 too because I haven't loaded christiancoders.com with IE 5.5 in a long while (before the Holy War thread, for instance) ).

I'm not too bothered too much by reading the post's via the way I'm doing right now (via the "quote" button).

Also, refreshing causes the front page to load up instead of the forum page. Netscape does not highlight the back button when going to a discussion.

So in some ways this post is the result of mixed success.

Just testing...The forum took me back to the "updated" page but what was displayed was just my first post. However I used the "quote" button to check to see if my latest post was there. It was. Could be a bug????

Ok now I am getting this delay problem. My last 2 replies have yet to show themselves. I am running IE 5.5 and it is NOT a cache problem. I have deduced this by pressing refresh many times, manually deleting my Temporary Internet Files, switching off caching altogether, rebooting the computer, and storming around the room in a huff.

Can anyone see this???

Yes - 13.40pm GMT

Normally if someone posts after me, my reply then comes up ok, but both our posts aren't coming up, so it must be a profile specific thing. I won't see this until someone who hasn't experienced this problem replies.
