Believe it or not, I've been looking into this (especially with the holiday season on the way)

I'm currently saving up some money to get this going. Was thinking of putting the CCN logo (the circle with the cross and the CCN) on the front in small, and the big CHRISTIAN+CODERS logo on the back with the URL. Whaddya think?

Thanks!

Sounds nice. But how many are you planning on selling? You might want to save up money for a little advertising instead. Get some more people here.

that's true also. It'd probably be more effective in upping the number of people who visit.

I hear that, Dog. It would be nice to get more folks on and participating...it's also really pricey to do the advertising. I find that most members are showing up via word of mouth (that's how most of you got here, no?)

hmmmm...here's an idea...maybe...how about for every n number of people a referrer gets participating on this site, I'll send a shirt??? I'll add a field to the database that says "referred by" that the new user fills out, and when it hits n# I'll send a shirt (or some other piece of CCN merhandise) to the referrer. Is that a goofy idea?

Obviously I'd need to think through the specifics, but does this sound even doable?

Thanks,

Hey Krylar,

That's a good idea, as long as you make the shirts available to buy the regular way as well - I want one NOW. I think the T-shirts could be good advertising in themselves, by us wearing them to Christian events.

Hey Chiefy!

Don't you own an HP Inkjet printer?? :-) Seriously, I print my own cards (except for Christmas cards, bought some Veggie Tales ones at the end of last season). But you can print Christmas ones as well.

I bought a reem of thicker card stock and so they even look/feel professional. I'd volunteer to print some for you but shipping to UK would be too much.

Krylar, we could design one up for CCN and "PDF" it and put it for download, people could get and print it. What do you say? Did your new logo get finished?

Take a look at http://www.msd2d.com/section_LeagueOfCoders.aspx
it's the best combination of merchandising and sturring up interest I've seen. It would take work to set it up. but it might be worth it.

What about offering free email. I often check sites that sound interesting when they are at the end of someones email address. I came to this site by searching for Blitzbasic about six months ago and have been coming back eversince, so advertising on the internet doesn't have to be expensive.
Also, if the members here have free webspace they aren't using why not just upload a small paragraph explaining what is on the site along with a link. Even if no-one visits the free webspace, christiancoders will be given a higher search rating in search engines because there are more links to this site.
While I am on the subject of search engines how do you normally subscribe to search engines?(is it professionally, automatically or manually).

FYI, I made a card with the old posted logo. Not sure if Krylar wants me giving it out, so this post will be asking him? Is it acceptable? If so, can you upload or do you want me to put it on my site and post a link?

God bless,

It's up!

BIG THANK YOU goes to Feo who did all the art. Check out the following link:

http://www.cafepress.com/christiancoders

That should take you to the store

As for the Christmas card. I *did* like what you sent, Graceworks Very nice. It would be cool to have one of the graphics on there though. I'll email you a couple of things so you can play around with them if you'd like.

[edit]On the email issue: this is something I've looked into in the past and I don't think I'll be offering this anytime soon. I appreciate the interest, but I'm not in a position to do this right now.[/edit]

Thanks again to everyone for your patience

Wow!!!
They all look so cool!!!
Come on guys, let't support CCN. You have to know some kids that would want to have one of those teddy bears.
Show the Blitz guys that the CCN guys are better at supporting their site!!!
Krylar put a lot of work on that other store too that has been up for a few months now (I think), and as of yesterday there wasn't even a single order.

Krylar --Hope you don't mind the more aggresive advertising

Hi Krylar,

Thankyou for letting me know that you can't afford to do the email thing. But I still need the answer to how you submit your site to search engines.

Heya...sorry, I missed that part!

I used a program a loooooooooooooooooooooooooong time ago that did all the registrations for me. I had to input a bunch of stuff and then it did all the submissions. That was a few years back now and I don't even recall what the proggy was that I used :/

I am really impressed with this site, the topics discussed are topics you can't discuss with friends etc. If you want me to do some search engine work email me(free of course). I am not promising anything but I am pretty sure I could get you higher up in the search engines. I would need some info like the number of active members and website hits to see if my methods were working.

Just an offer

Woohoo! Exactly 0 sales!

Cafe Press has already informed me that it will be shutting the doors on the shop in 60 days due to inactivity! LOL...give a guy a chance, I say! Unreal. Ah well. If you want any CCN merchandise, you got about 60 days.

Later,

Hiya,

I honestly don't care about the money. Even if we sold 100 t-shirts, I'd make about enough to buy a pizza (one topping).

I put up the store cause a bunch of people wanted me to...same was asked on BlitzCoder too, by the way, and there are exactly 0 sales there, so nobody should feel bad. It's just the way these things go.

Anwyays, the store will be up until December 1st and then it's toast. So if you want a little legacy of this site, snag it before then!

I snagged something. I was hoping for a CCN thong, but had to settle for a t-shirt.

I personally would like a white T-shirt with the big front logo and cable graphic back logo, but it's not available. Krylar, any chances that you would put it up before they close down? Otherwise I'll settle for something else...

Briant: LOL! That would probably be the oddest item I could possibly choose. There is one for BlitzCoder if you're interested.

Chosen: I just made the white t-shirt have the big graphic across the front with the cable logo on the back!

I had to get in on this before it was too late. Got a shirt today

BTW, Krylar, did you get my email about the logo? Never heard anything back and I thought maybe your email software might have blocked it because of the attachment.

Yeah, don't be doing that, make a new topic.

As you can see from the thread the shirts didn't go over too well. I think Krylar sold less than 10-15 of them. If there's interest we can re-open it up but first we have to take care of some other things.

good Idea, but I think we should have it in the main frame, since some people, (me, and I know there are some more), don't have the top frame.

Well, seeing as this thread has actually been resurrected, I'd like to place a vote for the return of the CafePress. There's no cost (so far as I know), and I could go for a CCN shirt. There are some other decent merch items on that website, but a basic T would be cool.

Just my $0.02.

I want a 2 cent shirt too..

Laz, they make their money selling things, not letting people design stuff. Actually the more people designing stuff the more likely you are to find something you like.
