Perhaps to beta test on slower machines. |

Many laptops will automatically underclock themselves when they're on battery power in order to save energy (as a byproduct of extending battery life, it also runs cooler). I imagine that underclocking a desktop could gain a similar benefit -- drawing less power whilst running cooler. [This message has been edited by HanClinto (edited October 16, 2007).] |

OH MAN! My computer is just way to stinking fast! I want to slow it down..... Haha, That's funny! While you're at it you might as well take out some ram and put in a smaller hard drive ------------------ |

DOSbox will solve that problem... But then again, kids weigh their car down with huge spoilers, spinners, massive body kits and overly large subs. I guess fast isn't for some people... ------------------ |

lol well I was just recently having problems with my t23 IBM laptop with a P.III mobile 1.133GHz cpu.... it was under-clocking at 400 MHz... when being plug in...(had just finished replacing the motherboard...) and the funny thing is that the bios was set to automatically control the clock speed based on demand... yet it would remain at 400MHz and practically every application I ran on it would lag...(or crash) but now it magically started working.... ------------------ |

it just blew my mind that i could get it to run at 0.8v...is there even a cpu out there that runs around that at stock? it ran vista fine, and i benchmarked a 2300 and something with pcmark, around 4700 at stock. i crashed vista though when my video froze up because of the 135mhz pci-e bus overclock. . it actually only lowered the heat by a few degrees...but i am using a heatsink that has 2 120mm fans mounted to it, so i guess they only get so cool without water cooling or something more extreme. ------------------ proverbs 25:7 www.gfa.org - Gospel for Asia www.persecution.com - Voice of the Martyrs
