I go to a public school. On wednesday (it's now Friday) several of the eighth grade classes went on a field trip to see a play made about the Diary of Anne Frank, to supplement the unit on the Holocaust we are doing in English. (yeah, i thought that was weird too... would have thought it would be in history...) We'll be reading that book soon.. but back to what I was saying. It was a good play, interesting, had interviews with real people from the book, had some convincing acting, especially on the part of the young men who were supposed to be part of the Nazi Youth Group. Well, on the way back to school, and at the school, I asked many kids what they thought of it. A few said it was okay, one girl said to imagine what it would be like if that happenened to us and we got into this big thing (not an argument lol) about how much we have in this country and we have no idea what those people went through... and then the rest of the people said it was 'stupid' or 'boring', or even 'gay'! I couldn't believe it!! These kids had gone to see a play about people who DIED because of where they were from or what they believed, and they suffered enormously and were displaced from their homes, forced to go to places like Auschwitz... and they called it stupid and boring... and gay... It made me mad... lol... I just think that this really shows where our country is going... and it really looks bad.

It's just people now-a-days expect everything to be handed to them on a silver platter. They think everyone owes them something, which is why they take for granted the freedoms we have been given, which no other countries have. They think smoking/swearing and any other idiotic acts think they look cool and mature. But to their great dismay they are the ones who are uncool, and immature and are the ones tearing this country down. People do not appreciate all of the things we have been given. Anyway, yeah that is my two cents, lol.

There was no blood or anything gross. Plus they have a "Who cares about the past?" mentality. If it had shootouts or was an action movie then they wouldn't mind too much.

I think its the fruit of all the violence and junk fed through media and video games and other such mediums. It's desensitized these people until they fail to value any death other than their own as nothing and even view others as entirely expendable for the "right cause". There's a gross lack of compassion and love for your neighbors. I don't have much room to talk because I've never been to public school and all I've said is based almost solely off of relation to other public school students in my youth group and direct or overheard conversation with them, so I won't say much more, but its vital that we try to help who we can. If you go to public school be an example of compassion and neighborly love in as many ways as you can, and if you have an opportunity to minister to youth or middle schoolers in your church or through some other medium please do so, our generation needs people who will stand in the gap for us and try to help us, we need examples and wisdom to help us change our identifty and ourselves as a generation and a culture.

Yeah, it bugs me too. Especially people noadays dissing shakespeare and classical music. I mean, shakespeare was a genious, and he desers a TON more credit than he gets. And classical music can be the most beautifull and touching stuff if you just listn to it. I think people nowdays are in such a hurry to get done with their day that thy don't take time to notice the beauty in things. And, as some of you have said, people don't care about anything that anyone in the past did to gt them to where they are today, and expect everything they need to just magically happen. Most people are spoiled, and I am glad to know that there are others out there who still appreceate the little things in life... and shakespeare...

lol... i like them... who's seen The Hiding Place (i think it's called) about Corrie Ten Boom? It's a really good movie about WWII, a christian family I think in Holland or Germany that hides Jews and they get sent to a concentration camp... very good movie... i agree with the classical music thing, haven't ever really read Shakespeare yet... like some of his things he said like "What's in a name?", and "All the world's a stage." lol...

Yay for classical music. And I'd probably like Shakespeare too if I could understand what everyone was saying. Its a different language to me.

i'm more of an edgar allen poe fan, not shakespeare. romeo and juliet is just sad and depressing. my love died, so i'm going to commit suicide and go to hell because i loved him/her more than God, not too logical there(i know poe is twisted too ). i like classical music sometimes, other times i can't stand it, i'm weird like that though. as far as history i'm more into the swords and shields time, things were hard back then i'm sure, but they were sooooo much simpler. war is very interesting to me, i mean the strategic side of it, i'm not much on thousands or millions dieing, or one person for that matter, i'm just big on strategy. anyway, most teenagers are spoiled because they're parents don't care enough about them to raise them right, or they simply don't want to believe/follow after Christ, so they have no idea how to correctly raise a kid. disciplin and tough love are good things...anyway, i'm rambling now so i'll get off here...for now
