Not yet, I'm just a Christian computer geek. I'm in college for secondary education and computer sciences. I want to *eventually* learn enough to teach computer courses and possibly english as a second language for immigrants.

Edit: I'm one of 4 girls in my school studying computer stuff... it doesn't bother me though because I'm not really a girly-girl and lean more towards "guy stuff" like computers, anime, video games, etc

Hey Kate,

Welcome here! I read you love Zelda and Mario, and the SNES.. awesome! I actually bought a SNES on ebay in 2003 . I never had one as a kid (poor me). I'm traumatized Personally I'm mostly into console style RPGs, so Zelda, FF and currently I'm playing Secret of Mana.

So, tell me about your faith, cause you seem to have a very colorful personality. You're an ex-mormon? Sounds like you went through a rough time.

Yes, I was in the Mormon religion from the time I was 14/15 until I was 20. I left about 9 months ago (I'm 21 now). The LDS (mormon) missionaries preached to me about Christ and how they're Christians and I already had Mormon friends, the missionaries actually came to my apartment about 6 months after my LDS friend Kimmie passed away. Well, EVENTUALLY they decided to tell me (5 yrs later!) that they believe that God was once a man and that His god made him a god and that when good MALE mormons die they become gods to rule their own planet with there "celestial" wives (meaning that when a Mormon divorces they get to keep all their exwives and the latest one in heaven...arg)... so obviously once I learned all of this b.s. I left their religion. I started going to Catholic church where my Mom goes but the lack of fellowship in the Catholic church is really getting to me so now I'm searching for a Christian church that not only has the spirituality aspect but also good youth groups for college students.

haha, I cracked up when I heard that.

"hey, I was a protestant! what ma I doing down here?" - a guy
"sorry, you got it wrong" - hell training officer
"well then, who was right then?" - another guy
"I believe it was the mormons, yes, the mormons is the correct answer."

lol. sry, I didn't get the quotes corrent.. i do have other things to do that watch south park and post here.

Ha Ha, Arch. Remember the whole show on Mormans? Dumbdedumbdumbdumb.

The whole story in South Park terms is hilarious. I don't think I could ever become Morman knowing how it started. I have nothing against Mormans though, don't get me wrong.

BTW, Welcome to the boards, Kate! I'm sure it won't be very long before you are annoyed by Realm and CPU, as they have already taken over your post.

yes, crazishone did say i would say sdomething about this. And i must say, i heard those lessons from a completely diferent perspactive. The people who told you that must be of a bit. OK, here is for number 1.

God is the greatest being ever. We will never achieve his power. It does say however that if we are married and go through our lives worthily then after we die, we can be an eternal family with your wife, children ect. This would give you a power of god (as in being able to have children still). Many people disagree with that, but that is what i have heard and all that extra stuff is just plain wrong.

Also, when you get a divorce, you lawfully (and in heaven) annul yourself from that person. You are no longer thier spouse, nor will you be after you die.

And,if your spouse dies and you re-marry, then there is a choice that must be mutual between the departed and yourself.

You are making mormons sound like they are really sexist, and male dominated. I just need to say that the reason why it is led by men and you dont hear a lot about the woman leaders is the same reason why we dont talk about what happens inside the temple. We believe that the woman is the most sacred creation of god and we do not want there to be the abuse of the women in our church that the men must endure.

there, i think i have said enough, now ponder it a bit......yeah

Hey Super_Rad!

Thanks for your informative post!

To everyone here, I really hope we all don't start a Mormon flame-war here. If we want to debate Mormonism, we can (preferrably in another thread that's on-topic for such a discussion -- I love discussing Joseph Smith and his prophecies and whatnot, but this probably isn't the thread to do an extensive discussion on such a thing in).

Please, let's please keep all posts maturely "seasoned with salt" and ixnay on the ameflays (nix on the flames). I'm just asking up front, as I know this is something we've had a problem with in the past (right Cheese/Stank? )

I do too -- I just don't want to get into too much of a flame war.

I'm interested in starting/and/or contributing to a Mormon discussion thread though.
