Hey yall,
I'm looking for some programmers that have some decent experience in Python. I'm trying to learn the language and would really like to have someone with a little more understanding of it to "bounce ideas" off of. thanks.

I don't talk here much for any help... so don't try bouncing anything off of me but check out:

www.python.org >> beginner's guide >> BeginnersGuide/NonProgrammers >> A Non-Programmer's Tutorial for Python by Josh Cogliati... Its what I learned from.

I also knew C at the time so it wasn't that hard to catch on. I'm not sure how it'll work for anyone else.

How long have you used python?

There are two ways of constructing a software design: one way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies; the other is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies.

Less than a year but since its so close to C and C++ I understand it very well.

Python has a much more basic syntax to it, making an ideal language to start on.

I've used Python a lot over the past 2 years, before that was Java. Now using C++ which just feels right. it's hard to explain but do other people that program in a few different languages have one that just feels right? hmm...

i know that feeling, of something just feeling right, but for me it can change, and it depends on its use..

for example for doing intense graphics code, then C++ (mixed with inline assembler) just feels right for me.. its the best..

however C++ for making typical windows applications, business stuff, or even GUI (MFC sucks) feels definately wrong and clunky.

java just feels wrong for me (though there are many things about it a appreciate)

and for typical windows stuff, C# feels really really right for me (even with my issues with MS)

but still alot of these languages are too strict, thats why i love perl sometimes, because its a language of great flexibility where you can write creative algorithms. it just feels right for so many things.. (though not for huge programs, nor for trying to work out anybody elses code)

most languages (basic, C, C++, delphi, java, C# ) all feel the same to me though, and rather restrictive because of their imperitive way, actually the thing that i hate the most about them, is the MINDSET , you think restricted to an impertive way.. so lately i'm trying to expand my horizons more with functional languages..
